Molten metal resistant sleeves (silicone rubber coated fiberglass) are suitable for the most demanding applications. Large diameter fabricated sleeves can be supplied in any custom length.
Typical diameters range from 5" (127 mm) up to 24" (610 mm).
Removable insulation blankets are custom made to meet the conditions of the most harsh environments. In-house fabrication facilities allows the custom designed removable insulation blankets to be supplied in large or small quantities, with a variety of closure systems, and in almost any size. A description of the environmental conditions and the dimensions of the equipment in need of protection (or of the desired material itself) are all that is needed to allow the quoting of a solution best suited to meet your requirements!
All blanket and cloth products can be fabricated into protective hanging curtains or custom sized blankets. Using a variety of associated accessories such as glass fiber, ceramic or stainless steel thread, non-magnetic grommets and abrasion edge trim, we can provide custom designed and fabricated protective curtains and blankets to meet almost environmental hazard. Different materials can be combined to achieve maximum molten metal and/or flame resistance. Applications range from molten splash resistance around foundries and arc-furnaces to large volume OEM parts on locomotive engines and various heavy equipment.
Molten metal resistant sleeves are designed specifically to protect water cooled power cables on electric arc and induction furnaces. Employing 96 oz. fiberglass thickly coated with silicone rubber, a custom fitted sleeve is fabricated with a Nomex hook and loop closure. Sleeves can be installed without disconnecting the water cooled cables. Molten metal resistant sleeves can withstand the heat, abrasion, bumping, flame and molten metal splash normally encountered in both AC and DC EAF furnace operations. Even splashes encountered during wet charges are repelled, allowing for continued operation of the EAF without unexpected cable failures. Molten metal resistant sleeves are non-conductive and will not affect the magnetic induction of the furnace. Available in a full range of sizes up to 12" (305 mm) diameter and beyond.
